MAINTENANCE NOTICE
From 6 PM to Midnight Pacific Standard Time on
April 29, 2009, we will be performing an upgrade to the Quik! Web Forms Engine
software and website. This upgrade will happen automatically and should not affect
service, nor cause any outages.
Please read below for more details.
DETAILS
We are planning a major upgrade of the
Quik! Web Forms Engine* software and web environment for production release on
Wednesday, April 29, 2009. We will send a follow-up email after the event
indicating our progress and completion.
WHAT THIS MEANS TO
YOU
The upgrade will include a software update to the Quik! Web Forms
Engine (QWFE) (both .NET and Java versions will now be version 4.0), updated web
services and an upgrade to the website used to manage customer accounts. While the
software upgrade is optional, the website upgrade will happen automatically and
there is NO programming that any customer or partner is obligated to perform. The
upgrade process should go smoothly and have no impact on customer operations.
Please read below for how each update may impact you.
QWFE
Version 4.0 Release (OPTIONAL WITH EXCEPTIONS**)
The new QWFE software is
an OPTIONAL upgrade. However, we strongly recommend that you upgrade as soon as
feasible to take advantage of the new features:
- New architecture for
generating forms gives you tighter control over launching forms and verifying that
the forms are available prior to launching
- Improved integration with
Adobe Reader and browser windows
- Updated Quik! Field Definition
offers the most current set of available fields
- Upgraded web
services to enhance digital signature control
- Implementation will be
easier to maintain and upgrade going forward
- Enhanced output options
Upgrading is OPTIONAL**. Upgrading to this new version from
version 3.0 will require minor software programming updates, if any. Upgrading from
versions older than 3.0 may require major programming changes.
Website Updates (AUTOMATIC)
The QWFE software relies on a
customer-facing website to manage account data and settings. Logging in at the
existing website (www.etiforms.com) will cause customers to be redirected to
www.QuikForms.com to manage their accounts. The new account manager (called Quik!
Customer Central) will include a web application called Quik! Forms Enterprise
Manager where you will be able to:
- Manage account settings and
billing
- Manage software licenses (QWFE, QFDE, QFR, etc)
- Manage customer account users and roles
- Download software and
documentation
- Access support resources
- Subscribe to
forms and dealers (including auto-subscribing)
Beginning Thursday,
April 30, 2009 customers will either need to login to their account at
www.QuikForms.com or they will be redirected to the correct website if logging in
at www.etiforms.com. This new website will NOT affect production environments or
current operations of the Quik! software and will use existing customer credentials
(e.g. username and password). CustomerID's WILL be updated to be "1000" + the
existing CustID (e.g. if your current CustID is 1234 then your new CustomerID is
10001234).
Web Service Updates
The QWFE software
relies on web services to add and update licenses (e.g. end users) and to download
your list of forms. While this upgrade does NOT require that you do anything, we
will be making changes to the existing web services to point them to the new
customer account manager website. That means that all of your transactions going
forward will automatically work with our new website and account management system.
While not required, we recommend planning to upgrade to the new web services as
soon as feasible to take advantage of the newest features and performance.
*NOTE: Customers and partners who use the Quik! Forms Data Engine and/or
the Quik! Forms Repository products are also affected by this upgrade however there
is no software to update at this time. The only impact is the website and web
services component of using these products.
**Customers and Partners
who are performing digital signatures or who have not launched their production
solution that incorporates Quik! MUST upgrade before going live.
DOWNTIME RISK
We will, of course, do everything we can to prevent
any outages, but in case there are, customers may be impacted in the following
areas:
- All QWFE-specific web services
- Quik! software
communication with the web server
- Generating forms

Customer account access
We periodically perform maintenance and
upgrades on our systems in order to ensure a high level of service and reliability.
This particular upgrade will result in enhancements and additions to the
functionality of the entire Quik! Web Forms Engine product and enhance our overall
product capabilities.
PREPARATIONS
Please treat this
message as notice to give your team time to prepare for any outage that may occur
during the upgrade or shortly thereafter. In the past, our upgrades have gone very
smoothly and we anticipate this one will go smoothly as well. In the case where
there is a failure as a result of this upgrade, please notify our support team via
